HomeSt. Aloysius is a Catholic parish located in Paris, Illinois. Established in 1817 by pioneers led by Aloysius Brown, the church community initially built a log structure for worship, with a cemetery later established on-site. A second church was constructed in 1837 to accommodate the growing congregation. In 1858, following a shift in demographics due to the arrival of railroad tracks in Paris, St. Aloysius became a mission church dependent on St. Mary’s Church in Paris. The current brick church was built in 1900, with historical significance marked by a dedication from the Edgar County Historical Society in 1991.
