HomeSt. Francis of Assisi, located in Wakefield, Rhode Island, is a Catholic parish within the Diocese of Providence. The parish traces its roots back to 1850, when the first Mass was celebrated by Father Hilary Tucker. Officially established as a parish on Christmas Day in 1879, it was served by its first pastor, Father William McCombe. The parish is comprised of two worship sites: the historic Saint Francis of Assisi Church and the Saint Romuald Chapel in Matunuck.
