HomeSt. Maurice Church (St. Francis Parish) in New Britain, Connecticut, is a Catholic parish established in 1942. Founded as the ninth branch of St. Mary’s Church, it initially held Mass in the Stanley School Auditorium until the completion of its basement chapel. By 1956, the parish had grown substantially, prompting the construction of a Georgian Colonial style upper church, which accommodates 700 people and features notable stained glass windows symbolizing the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and the Ten Commandments. The church experienced significant growth through the years, reaching over 2,000 families by the end of the 1950s. St. Francis School, opened in 1963, served the parish until its merger with Pope John Paul II School in 2006.
