HomeSt. Mary, located in Halifax, England, is a Catholic parish that was founded in 1834. It is one of the oldest parishes in the Diocese of Leeds, established following the Catholic Emancipation in 1829. The foundation stone was laid by Fr. Joseph Wright-Fairclough, the first parish priest. Significant developments include the addition of schools in 1846 and major church extensions completed after World War I under Canon John Foley, with consecration occurring in the church's centenary year, 1934.
