HomeThe Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield, Illinois, is a Catholic parish that traces its origins to St. Mary's, established in 1839. After the diocese moved its seat from Alton to Springfield in 1923, St. Mary's became the pro-cathedral until the current structure was completed and dedicated in 1928. The Cathedral underwent significant renovations, culminating in the dedication of a new altar on December 2, 2009. Under the leadership of the Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, the parish serves over 850 families and represents a diverse community drawn from Springfield and surrounding areas.
