Our Lady Star of the Sea is a Catholic parish located at 22 Massasoit Avenue in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. The parish has its roots in the late 19th century, when a group of predominantly Portuguese Catholics sought to establish a place of worship on Martha's Vineyard. Following their efforts, Mass was first celebrated on the island in 1880 at Sacred Heart Church, which was the precursor to the present parish. Today, Good Shepherd Parish encompasses Our Lady Star of the Sea, along with St. Augustine's Church in Vineyard Haven and St. Elizabeth's Church in Edgartown, and is involved in local charitable initiatives, including support for The O’Connell House, a residence for women who have been trafficked.
