Our parish story began in 1847, when Catholic families first gathered for Mass in Ellerslie. In 1904, the Church of the Immaculate Conception was built in memory of Monsignor Walter McDonald, and it has remained the heart of our community ever since.
From those early beginnings, our parish has grown into a vibrant and diverse family of faith. We are blessed with parishioners from many cultures and backgrounds from the Pacific islands and Asia, united by a spirit of inclusivity, belonging, and shared faith. In recent years, the Vietnamese and Syro-Malabar Catholic community has also made its home with us, enriching our parish life even further.
Today, we give thanks for the legacy passed down to us and warmly welcome all who come through our doors to share in the life of our parish.
