HomeChrist the King is a Catholic parish located in Greenup, Illinois. Established through the initiative of Nicholas Ettelbrick, Sr., the parish began when he approached Bishop James Griffin in 1937, offering land and a building for the church. Ground was broken on May 26, 1937, and the church was dedicated on December 19, 1937, with Fr. George Powell as its first pastor. Over the years, the parish has experienced growth and has seen significant events, including the ordination of Fr. Rene Ettelbrick on June 19, 1939, and the establishment of a parish hall in 1974, which was blessed by Bishop William O'Connor.
