Splendor App Guide

Everything you need to know about using our platform

Getting Started with Splendor

Finding a Catholic church shouldn't be complicated, especially when you're traveling or new to an area. That's exactly why we created Splendor – to make it incredibly simple for Catholics anywhere in the world to find Mass schedules, Confession times, and Adoration hours at churches near them.

Whether you're a frequent traveler, recently moved to a new city, or simply exploring different parishes in your community, Splendor connects you with your faith wherever you are. Let me walk you through everything you need to know to make the most of this platform.

Finding Churches Near You

The easiest way to start is by using our location-based search. When you first visit Splendor, you'll see a search bar on the homepage. If you allow the app to access your location, it will automatically show you churches in your immediate area, sorted by distance.

Don't worry if you prefer not to share your location – you can search manually too. Just type in your city name, address, or even a specific zip code. The search is pretty forgiving, so "Downtown Chicago" or "Manila Philippines" will both work perfectly fine.

Here's a pro tip: if you're looking for a specific church but can't remember the exact name, try searching for the area or diocese instead. For example, searching "Archdiocese of New York" will show you all the parishes in that region.

Understanding What You'll See

Once you search, you'll get a list of churches with some basic information right upfront. Each church listing shows the name, address, and how far it is from your location. You'll also see a quick preview of their Mass schedule, so you can immediately tell if they have services at times that work for you.

The beauty of Splendor is that we don't just give you a phone number and send you on your way. Click on any church that interests you, and you'll get detailed information about their complete schedule, including weekday Masses, Sunday services, and any special liturgical celebrations they offer.

Mass Schedules and Service Times

This is where Splendor really shines. Every church page shows you a comprehensive breakdown of their Mass schedule. You'll see regular weekday Masses, all the Sunday service times, and even special schedules for holidays and holy days of obligation.

Many churches also offer different types of Masses – some have contemporary music, others celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass, and many offer services in different languages. We try to include all of these details so you can find exactly what you're looking for.

Remember that Mass schedules can sometimes change due to special events, priest availability, or seasonal adjustments. While we work hard to keep everything up-to-date, it's always a good idea to call ahead if you're planning to attend a church for the first time, especially for weekday Masses.

Confession Times and Adoration Hours

Beyond Mass schedules, you'll find information about when each church offers the Sacrament of Confession. Some parishes have set confession hours (like Saturdays from 3-4 PM), while others offer confession by appointment. We include both types of information when it's available.

If you're looking for Eucharistic Adoration, many church pages will also show you when adoration is available. Some churches have perpetual adoration, meaning the Blessed Sacrament is exposed 24/7, while others have specific hours throughout the week.

Saving Your Favorites

Once you find churches you like, you can create a free account to save them as favorites. This is particularly helpful if you travel frequently or split your time between different areas. Your saved churches will be easily accessible whenever you log in.

Having an account also means you might receive notifications if there are any major schedule changes at your favorite parishes, though we're careful not to overwhelm you with unnecessary emails.

Making the Most of Your Church Visit

Here are some practical tips I've learned from using Splendor myself: First, if you're visiting a church for the first time, arrive a few minutes early to get oriented. Every parish has its own rhythm and traditions.

Second, don't hesitate to introduce yourself to the ushers or other parishioners – Catholic communities are generally very welcoming to visitors. If you're new to an area, they might even give you helpful tips about the local community.

Finally, remember that while Splendor provides the best information we can gather, churches are living communities that sometimes need to make last-minute changes. The contact information we provide for each church is there for a reason – use it when you need to verify something important.

When You Need Help

If you can't find a specific church you're looking for, or if you notice outdated information, please let us know. We rely on our community to help keep Splendor accurate and comprehensive. You can reach out to our support team, and we'll do our best to help you find what you need.

The goal of Splendor has always been simple: to make sure no Catholic ever has to miss Mass because they couldn't find a church or didn't know the schedule. We hope this guide helps you make the most of the platform, and more importantly, helps you stay connected to your faith wherever life takes you.
